MISSION

RDR Marketing was launched in August 1997 with a view to fulfilling the need for a dedicated marketing concern that would offer clients a service that is reliable , consistent, convenient, reasonably priced and committed enough to afford such clients the comfort that the responsibilities entrusted to it would be adequately fulfilled. Clients need to rest assured that their advertised message is communicated effectively to their target market. Pamphlet distribution in particular being a labour intensive operation, RDR Marketing intends to empower previously disadvantaged communities and the unemployed by sub- contracting labour services and assisting and training individuals thereby ensuring their upward mobility into the mainstream economy.

We want to build an impeccably strong ethos based on sincerity, trust and mutual respect with all people that we encounter in our daily endeavors. In particular we refer to our staff, our suppliers, our customers and also the organisations to which we are members, eg. The Institute of Marketing Management (IMM), The National Economic Initiative and the Tekweni Business Development Association.

As an SME, we presently employ approximately 60 previously disadvantaged individuals in the organisation. With your support we are optimistic that we may substantially increase this number. The members are of Indian origin and one of our major sub-contractors is Black.

EXPERIENCE

RDR Marketing has been responsible for the bulk of the distribution of the Independent Shopper, a product of Independent Newspapers, since January 1998. We minimise complaints from clients mainly by displaying transparency in our modus operandi. We invite all advertisers in each issue and on each occasion to follow-up or monitor our distributions. Complaints from advertisers are handled personally by management and a report back to the client is ensured. A detailed listing of both current and past clients is available on demand.

GOAL

Our aim is to offer our clients the personal attention and guarantee that their objective of reaching their target markets is being achieved. The industry is presently monopolised by mainly two “Big” companies that may not always have the time of day to afford the client individual attention and a personalised, convenient and cost effective service. The fact that we are owner driven, operate out of our own premises and have our own vehicles, makes us cost efficient and places us in the favourable position of being able to deliver on our promises. Being a small company also allows us to tailor packages to clients' specific requirements. We also give Companies the opportunity of fulfilling their social obligations of supporting SMME's and having us as participants in their affirmative procurement programme.

DISTRIBUTION PROCEDURES

Our distribution procedures are briefly outlined hereunder:

  • On the morning of each distribution all teams are briefed on the tasks at hand for the day.
  • Drivers will sign for all handbills issued to them by supervisors for distribution, making particular note of quantities.
  • Each driver is issued with a log sheet and a detailed map of the areas to be covered by his team for the days specific task.
  • The drivers will issue his distributors with flyers in lots of +/- 100 at a time and allocate them to specific streets.
  • The driver will follow-up on his distributors and ensure maximum coverage of every Household or Business in his area of distribution and ensure that there is absolutely no wastage.
